DriverUpdate™'s purpose is to provide easy, one-click access to all of the
latest drivers for your computer. This saves you time and prevents the possibility of
installing an incorrect system driver, which could potentially cause a system crash. All
drivers offered by DriverUpdate™ may be available free of charge from
manufacturer websites. DriverUpdate™ costs $29.97 for a one-year license, which
enables you to download any out of date drivers DriverUpdate™ finds.
Drivers are
updated frequently as changes to existing technology are implemented
or new technologies arise. The Bluetooth device must be able to
comply with the changes and recognize new technology in order to
cooperate with other devices. Without the updated driver, your
Bluetooth device may not function with new technology or comply with
updated platforms. Drivers can be difficult to find and once they are
found, can be tricky to install. Most drivers must be manually
extracted, installed and registered with the Windows registry.
Without the knowledge to do this, the driver may not be installed to
the correct location and the Bluetooth device will fall further and
further out-of-date, ceasing to comply with any standard of
technology.
To learn how to
update your Bluetooth device driver manually, continue reading
below...
Before you can
update your bluetooth device, you need to know who manufactured the
bluetooth device you are trying to update. To find this information,
you need to open the device manager:
To
begin... Click Start
-
(Windows XP or earlier)
(Windows Vista/7)
You
should now be in the device manager.

Look
under these categories for your Bluetooth device: Bluetooth
Radios, Network Adapters
Your
Bluetooth device may show up in both categories. We
want to update drivers for both if they are available. Updating the
device under the Bluetooth Radios category will typically update the
device on all levels.
Once
you have found your Bluetooth device within device
manager...
-
Right-click the Bluetooth device
-
Select Properties from the options
-
Looking
in the General tab you should be able to see the Manufacturer. Make a note of this.
-
Download the latest driver from www.broadcom.com
-
Click Download
Now
-
Accept
the download and Run it once it is finished. An installer for the driver will launch.
-
The installer will guide you through the installation
process and tell you to reboot once it is finished.
You now
have the most current driver for your Bluetooth
device. You can refer back to this guide should you ever require
instruction in this matter again, or you can download DriverUpdate™
and have the entire process automated for you.
